Yahoo Review OnLive Gaming Service, “Surprisingly Close” to Real Thing

The gaming community has been buzzing over OnLive, the revolutionary new streaming game service. Using a so called “cloud gaming” scheme, the actual game is played on OnLive’s collection of servers, while the end result is streamed to your computer as video. Not willing to spend 2 grand on a new Alienware? No problem.

Yahoo News recently got some hands on experience with OnLive, and have produced an in depth review. The verdict: Not exactly like playing a game on a high end gaming computer, but close enough. OnLive can be pretty pricey (nearly $60 for a “Play Pass”, which gives you the ability to play just one game), but for those not willing to break the bank on flashy video cards or processors, it’s a pretty good deal.
