Microsoft Adds “Mac Vs. PC” Page On Windows 7 Site

In Apple, Microsoft, Windows on August 17, 2010 at 12:54 AM

Apparently, Microsoft isn’t ready to let the Mac/PC war die down. They’ve recently added a PC versus Mac page on the Windows 7 site.

In a move reminiscent of the infamous Apple “Get A Mac” ads, Microsoft lays out a compare and contrast of the two OSes. Not surprisingly, Windows 7 comes out ahead. Among the many PC pros listed?

  • Compatibility: “Plain and simple, if you’re a PC user, lots of your favorite stuff just might not work on a Mac.” Not a very convincing reason for a Mac user to switch back to PC, but for WIndows users (who make up about 90% of the home computer market) this might be the best reason to not make the switch.
  • More choice: Microsoft points out the many features Macs currently do not come with, including Blu Ray, TV tuners, or 3G wireless.
  • Office savvy: In a bit of marketing jujitsu, Windows uses the “stuffy worker” stereotype to their advantage, asserting that when it comes to grown up stuff, Macs just don’t hold up.

All in all, it’s not as blunt as the Mac campaign was, but it’s sure to get fanboys’ blood racing nonetheless. Let the flame wars (re)commence!

  1. I like mac better
